Cop charged for murder of woman found dead in Bayambang
A police officer from Taguig City was formally charged with murder after being identified as the suspect behind the killing of a woman whose lifeless body was found in Bayambang last month.
The 31-year-old police officer, a resident of San Carlos City, is currently under restricted custody of the Philippine National Police, according to an interview with Police Colonel Rommel Bagsic.
The victim, identified as Perlyn Rada, a medical worker in a hospital in Taguig City, was found lifeless on the side of the road in Sitio Pacdol, Barangay Bani, Bayambang, on July 21, 2025.
A thorough investigation by the authorities revealed that the victim had been shot at the scene.
Further inquiries uncovered that the victim had a boyfriend, a seaman, who mentioned that a police officer had pursued her. The victim had also informed her boyfriend that she was going to Pangasinan for a swimming trip.
The investigation also revealed that the victim had a side business involving money lending, and she regularly carried at least P50,000 in cash.
Meanwhile, the police obtained CCTV footage from Manila and various places in Pangasinan showing the police officer and the victim riding a motorcycle together. However, when the footage reached the Basista to San Carlos City area, only the suspect was seen on the motorcycle.
The police are continuing their investigation and are pursuing additional leads to further strengthen their case. (Ahikam Pasion)
