Drunk man run over by a backhoe, dies

A 45-year-old man died after being run over by a backhoe in Mabini town.

According to the police investigation, the 28-year-old backhoe operator was on his way to the riverbank to gather rocks when he accidentally ran over the victim, who had fallen asleep in the middle of the road due to intoxication. The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

Chainsaw operator shot dead

AUTHORITIES are conducting a thorough investigation into the fatal shooting of a chainsaw wood grafter identified as Ruel Galano, 43, in Barangay San Pedro Ili, Alcala.

According to Hilario Pedron, 52, a fish ball vendor and companion of the victim, Galano was driving his kulong-kulong on the way to buy used oil for chainsaw operations when he was attacked by two men on a motorcycle. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, and a manhunt is underway for the suspects.

Rider crashes into van, dies

A welder died after his motorcycle collided with a utility vehicle along the national road in Barangay Cablong, Pozorrubio. The victim was identified as Dennis Cambalisa Cervas, 46, a resident of Barangay Alipangpang, Pozorrubio.

According to the initial police report, the van was overtaking another vehicle that was making a left turn when Cervas, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and not wearing a helmet, slammed into the side of the van.

Minor drowns while fishing in Dasol

A fishing trip turned tragic after a minor drowned while diving in the waters off Barangay Tambobong, Dasol. According to initial reports, the victim went fishing with two others while he went diving in waters approximately 22 meters deep where the victim was suddenly seen motionless and being pulled away by strong ocean currents.

His companions quickly rescued the victim and brought him to shore but was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Security guard found dead inside Urdaneta City mall

A security guard was found lifeless inside a mall in Urdaneta City early Monday morning, just minutes after the establishment opened for the day. The victim was identified as Nestor Laroya Trinidad, 49 years old, and a resident of Barangay Tabuyoc, Binalonan.

According to the initial report, Trinidad was discovered unresponsive sprawled on the third floor of the mall at around 8:05 a.m. by guard Jolly Asuncion Gabay, 45. Authorities believe the cause of death may have been a severe heart attack.
