HVI nabbed, ₱380K worth of shabu, firearms seized

A 49-year-old security guard tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) in the illegal drug trade was arrested early Thursday morning, May 22, following a joint law enforcement operation that led to the confiscation of suspected shabu worth ₱380,800 and firearms in Alaminos City.

The suspect, Paisal Salisip, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Alaminos was apprehended after law enforcers implemented search warrants for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

The operation was carried out by joint elements of the Alaminos City Police Station and personnel from the Regional Intelligence Division.

Authorities seized the following items from the suspect’s residence in Sitio Palali, Barangay Poblacion: five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 56 grams of suspected shabu; a 9mm pistol; a 9mm magazine; an Armscor shotgun;  24 live rounds of 9mm ammunition; 4 live rounds of shotgun ammunition; and ₱10,020 in cash, among others.

Authorities are now preparing appropriate charges against Salisip, who remains in police custody. (Eva Visperas)
