CVO member gunned down in Urdaneta

A member of the Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO) was shot dead inside the barangay hall of Pinmaludpod in Urdaneta City on the evening of May 2, 2025.

According to police reports, the victim Edgar Nosis, 58, a resident of Zone 2 in the same barangay, was shot by two motorcycle men riding in tandem who entered the barangay hall.

Nosis sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed by Emergency Medical Services to the Urdaneta City District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The motive behind the killing remains under investigation.

Police B/Gen. Lou Evangelista, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, condemned the attack, calling it “a shocking act of violence” against a community servant.

“This deplorable attack on an individual serving his community is an affront to the peace and order we strive to maintain in Region 1,” he said, and assured the victim’s family that authorities will exhaust all means to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The CVO is a nationwide paramilitary group under the Philippine National Police with its members tasked to assist barangay officials in keeping peace and order in the communities.  (Eva Visperas)
