Barangay chief tanod injured, arrested in drug-bust ops
A chief tanod of Barangay Nining in San Nicolas was injured by return fire after he allegedly shot members of the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) who were conducting a buy-bust operation in Natividad.
According to P/Major Ruel Albano, chief of Natividad PNP, the operation took place in Barangay Bachelor West in coordination with the PNP-DEG to entrap a targeted drug personality.
The suspect, a barangay tanod identified as Jun Rebujio, had long been under surveillance by the PNP-DEG for his illegal activities in Natividad, making him a priority target. Additionally, there were reports suggesting his involvement in gun-running activities.
Following the shootout, the suspect was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Among the items seized from the suspect during the operation were 11 plastic sachets containing shabu, a caliber .45 handgun, several rounds of ammunition, two magazines for the .45, a knife, and a holster for the firearm. (Ahikam Pasion)
