A tragic plane crash in Barangay Libsong East, Lingayen town claimed the lives of a pilot instructor and his student on the morning of Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The victims were Captain Nikko Manogan, 31, from Baguio City, and 25-year-old student-pilot Bryan Allen Ocang from San Ildefonso, Bulacan, with roots in Lingayen town.

P/Lt. Colonel Amor Somine, chief of the Lingayen police, said the victims onboard a Cessna training aircraft with tail number RP-C 8595 operated by the Pilipinas Space & Aviation Academy Inc., just had its tenth touchdown at the Lingayen Airport and took off for its final round when the plane crashed in a swampy area being used as a grazing spot.

The crash site is just about 400 meters from the Lingayen airport.

It remains unknown who was piloting the aircraft when the crash occurred until the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) completes its investigation.

The pilot and the student were rescued after being pinned from the crashed plane and were rushed by members of the Lingayen Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to the Lingayen District Hospital, but were declared dead on arrival.

The aviation school has yet to respond to the media’s request for an interview.  (Ahikam Pasion)
