Cop wounded in Santa Barbara shooting

A police intelligence officer at the Sta. Barbara station is currently in critical condition at a hospital after being shot multiple times.

According to the investigation led by Officer-in-Charge Police Chief Michael Datuin, the incident occurred at around midnight on Saturday of the Holy Week. The officer was riding his motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Maninding when he was followed by a motorcycle-riding assailant who opened fire at him. Investigators are looking into possible motives of the perpetrators including possible cases involving criminal groups.

Cannonball found in San Jacinto

A live cannonball was discovered on April 22 in the waters off Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa in San Jacinto by a resident, who immediately reported his find to local authorities. The item was identified by the Pangasinan 4th District Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Canine Unit from Dagupan City as an old 100mm high explosive projectile that was still dangerous if not handled properly.

The projectile is now in the custody of the EOD unit for safe storage.

Woman nabbed in drug-bust ops, yield 100grams shabu

AUTHORITIES in Pangasinan arrested a woman identified as a high-value drug suspect, in possession of 100 grams of suspected shabu. The arrest took place during a buy-bust operation conducted in Zone 3, Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Maria.

The suspect, known by the alias “Gracia,” is a 25-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion C, Tayug. Authorities were able to apprehend her through a coordinated effort among the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1. Authorities are currently on the hunt for a male fugitive from Makati City believed to be Gracia’s accomplice, who managed to escape during the operation.

Man nabbed for drug possession after vehicular accident

A man who ran over a minor in Dagupan City was brought straight to jail after he was found to be in possession of illegal drugs after the incident, which took place Barangay Tambac.

The suspect, Kenneth Dumagas, a motorcycle rider from Mangaldan, struck a minor crossing the road. Upon questioning by responding police, Dumagas removed his helmet, causing two packets containing suspected shabu, weighing 3.2 grams and valued at approximately P21,760, to fall out. Officials also found a plastic sachet with suspected shabu residue. Dumagas was arrested by personnel from Police Community Precinct 4 (PCP-4) of the Dagupan City Police Station and is currently in police custody.

Man electrocuted while fishing, drowns

A man drowned after being electrocuted while fishing at the Embarcadero River in Barangay Cabatling in Malasiqui.

Prior to the incident, the victim identified as 48-year-old Salvador Cannu Frias Jr. was socializing with friends and later retrieved a motorcycle battery to use for fishing with electricity. However, he did not return from the river, prompting his brother, 43-year-old Jorge Cannu Frias, to search for him and discovered Salvador floating in the river.  He was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
