FIFTY-SEVEN persons were treated due to jellyfish stings, among the thousands who trooped to Pangasinan’s beaches during the Holy Week from April 17 to 20, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction  and Management Officer (PDRRMO).

Avenix Arenas, assistant PDRRMO officer, said among the beaches that recorded jellyfish sting cases include Binmaley (27), Dagupan City (15), Alaminos City (8), and Lingayen (7).

Due to the rising jellyfish sting cases, the Dagupan City government implemented a no-swimming policy at Tondaligan Beach until further notice to ensure the safety of the public.

According to Dr. Julita De Venecia, OIC of the Dagupan City Health Office, they advised the people to immediately apply vinegar to the affected area and seek medical assistance from the nearest hospital if they experience difficulty in breathing. (Kim Gealogo)
