EIGHT vehicles traversing the Don Teofilo Sison Bridge in Villasis collided at around 2 p.m. on March 6, causing multiple damage and minor injury to a motorcycle rider.

According to initial police investigations, the drivers of the involved vehicles were traveling in opposite directions.

The vehicles were identified as a Fuso wing van truck, a Honda City Sedan, a Honda Click 125 motorcycle, an Isuzu Hi Side truck, a Yamaha Aerox 155 motorcycle, an Isuzu Elf freezer van truck, a JAC Prince utility vehicle, and an Isuzu tanker truck.

The driver of the Fuso wing van truck, Benedicto Benedicto, 31, from San Ildefonso, Bulacan, reported that he lost control of his vehicle’s brakes, which led him to hit the rear of the Honda City driven by Eden Flores, 49, from Villasis. The collision also caused the Fuso truck to sideswipe the Isuzu Elf freezer van and the JAC Prince vehicle.

As the Honda City was pushed forward, it hit the Honda Click motorcycle driven by Ralph Paolo Hernandez, 39, and the Isuzu Hi Side truck driven by Jake Bennet De Guzman, 30, both from Rosales.

Both the Honda City and the Honda Click veered into the opposite lane and collided with the Isuzu tanker truck driven by Santy Marinda, 46, from Valenzuela City.

The rider of the Honda Click motorcycle sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Villasis Rural Health Unit for medical check-up. The other drivers involved in the incident were unharmed.

All the vehicles involved incurred damage and were brought to the Villasis Municipal Police Station for proper processing and disposition.

As of press time Friday, the authorities were continuing to investigate the cause and conditions surrounding the accident. (Eva Visperas)
