SHOOTING incidents in Pangasinan this January dropped by half to six from 12 in the same month last year, the police reported.

Police Provincial Director P/Colonel Rollyfer Capoquian, in a recent interview, attributed the peaceful atmosphere in Pangasinan to the implementation of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) checkpoints.

An election-related gun ban is also in effect from January 12 to June 11.

As part of its campaign against gun violence, the Philippine National Police in the province has confiscated 20 firearms and apprehended 24 individuals through police responses and other operations associated with the ongoing gun ban.

Capoquian urged the public to remain vigilant and committed to upholding peace and safety, emphasizing the collective responsibility in maintaining a secure environment for all residents. (Ahikam Pasion)
