Commercial building burned down

THE investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Urdaneta City into the cause of a fire that engulfed a commercial building housing a furniture and welding shop owned by 53-year-old Rolando Carreon Orbizo, located in Barangay Palina East continues.

Kagawad Shaira Orbizo said she heard two explosions coming from the shop shortly before the building was ablaze. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and had the fire under control within an hour. There were no casualties reported and no other establishments were affected by the fire, according to FSUPT Bryan A. Pocyao, the City Fire Marshal of BFP Urdaneta City.

Police launch manhunt for stabbing suspect

AUTHORITIES are currently searching for a 19-year-old male suspect following a stabbing incident t during a fiesta celebration in the town of Mabini.

According to the police investigation, the 40-year-old victim was watching a dance performance when his 22-year-old son frantically approached him and said they were being pursued by a group of men wielding knives. To de-escalate the situation, the victim, accompanied by another minor child, sought out the suspect, who was at the barangay plaza. However, upon spotting them, the suspect immediately attacked the victim and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Motorcycle rider dead in Tayug road mishap

A 36-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident along the by-pass road in Barangay Patricio, Santa Maria.

According to reports, the victim lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the pavement. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Man nabbed in Rosales drug sting

A 36-year-old man was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted in the municipality of Rosales. The suspect, identified as a known drug dealer and resident of Balungao, was arrested by the Rosales police in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1.

During the operation, authorities recovered two grams of suspected shabu valued at P13,600, along with four pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of a glass tooter, a yellow lighter, a violet plastic bag, and a motorcycle without a license plate.

 10-year-old drowns in Angalacan River

A 10-year-old boy drowned in the Angalacan River in San Jacinto, where he went with three other minor friends to swim.

Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Mangaldan, saw the boy struggling in the water and rushed to rescue him. He was later taken to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) in San Jacinto and subsequently transferred to R1MC, but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff. The responding MDRRMO personnel said they had warned the children against swimming in the river prior to the incident, but this was ignored.

Man dead in motorcycle collision

A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Barangay Salinap, San Carlos City.

The motorcycle rider, who was not identified at presstime, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The pickup truck driver, a 38-year-old resident of San Carlos City, was unharmed in the incident. Initial investigations indicate that the driver of the pickup truck was maneuvering when the victim’s motorcycle, traveling at high speed, crashed into it.
