AUTHORITIES have identified parts of the dismembered body found floating last week at a National Irrigation Administration canal in Barangay Lagasit, San Quintin.

P/ Captain Esteban Fernandez, officer-in-charge of the San Quintin police, said the recovered partial remains, the torso from the upper abdomen to the knees, belonged to Michael Lagranam, a businessman from Nueva Ecija who was reported missing since December 2024.

The remains were positively identified by the wife based on the victim’s clothing following coordination by the San Quintin police with their counterparts in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija but Fernandez said he’s still awaiting the results of a forensic examination, which is expected to be completed within thirty days.

A dismembered left foot was discovered at an irrigation site in Sitio San Joaquin, Luna Natividad, which could also belong to Lagranam.

In early February, authorities recovered another body from the irrigation canal in Natividad, which was positively identified through DNA sampling as Julius Diaz, an aide of Lagranam who was reportedly kidnapped with him in January 2025.

Fernandez urged anyone with information relating to the circumstances surrounding the two victims to come forward and assist in clarifying the events that led to their tragic demise. (Ahikam Pasion)
