2025 MIDTERM ELECTIONS

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is ramping up efforts to ensure a safe electoral environment as the May 12 poll approaches, including the conduct of “Oplan Katok,” reminding gun owners to register or renew their firearm licenses.

PNP Provincial Director Rollyfer Capoquian said proactive outreach is part of a broader strategy to ensure compliance with the ongoing election gun ban.

Meanwhile, more police personnel have been deployed to areas of concern identified by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Capoquian said residents should expect a substantial police presence in seven towns and cities, including Dagupan City, Urdaneta City, Aguilar, Binmaley, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, and Sual.

He emphasized that this should be no cause for alarm as the main objective of these measures is to prevent any recurrence of violent incidents linked to past elections in these areas.
