THE local government of Bayambang strongly condemned and expressed deep sorrow as it announced the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl from Barangay Tococ East, whose body was found on February 19 in Barangay Bical Sur.

In a statement posted Wednesday night on Balon Bayambang, the municipal government’s official Facebook page, it said that an autopsy is currently being conducted to determine the cause of her death and to investigate whether it is related to sexual assault.

It assured the public that all efforts are being undertaken to achieve justice for the victim and her family.

Authorities have apprehended four of the five suspects believed to be involved in the crime.

“We urge everyone to be cautious and avoid associating with strangers. The safety of each individual should always be a top priority,” the statement said in Filipino.

The local government requests prayers for the soul of the victim and for her grieving family during this difficult time. (Eva Visperas)
