Army seizes firearms, ammo from NPA in San Nicolas
ARMY troopers confiscated an arms cache from a group previously linked to the communist movement in Sitio Cabalitian, Barangay Santa Maria, San Nicolas town on February 10, 2025.
Lt Colonel Benny Singca, battalion commander of the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry Kaibigan, said the operation was done in collaboration with the community and a former member of the group.
“Because of this success, it was only an indication that chaos is gradually ending and peace is also prevailing,” he said.
It was learned that the confiscated firearms and ammunition were from the dissolved Kilusang Larangang Guerialla (KLG) Caraballo of the New People’s Army, the armed group of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
Among the items seized were three rifle grenades, 55 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, two long magazines for M16 rifles, and one unit generator set. (Kim Gealogo)
