25 hurt in bus accident in Villasis
A passenger bus overturned along the provincial highway in Barangay Unzad, Villasis on February 12, leaving all 25 people on board injured but no reported fatality.
Villasis police chief P/Major Edgar Allan Serquina said the driver lost control of the steering wheel and veered off the slippery road caused by heavy rain. The bus hit rocks and overturned.
The driver, Ryan Oliver Teja Perez, 35, a resident of Barangay Santa Maria, Alaminos City, his two conductors, and 22 passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital by the responding police personnel.
The injured passengers expressed no interest in filing a case or complaint against the driver as the bus company assured that it will shoulder the medical expenses of all the injured.
As this developed, authorities again reminded all drivers to follow speed limits strictly and take extra caution when it rains. (Kim Gealogo)
