Shabu worth half a million seized in Dagupan

A joint buy-bust operation by local police and anti-narcotics agents led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of 70 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P476,000, on December 11 in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City.

The suspect, identified as Jaypee Castro, 36, of Barangay Caranglaan, was apprehended at around 4:31 a.m. when the operation was carried out by the Dagupan City Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1.

Other items confiscated from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver with two live rounds of ammunition and an empty shell casing, motorcycle, and boodle money of P500 in genuine bills and P1,000 in fake currency used in the transaction.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and for illegal possession of firearms. (Eva Visperas)
