Pangasinan PNP achieves 81% crime solution efficiency in 2024
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) reported a crime solution efficiency rate of 81.1% for 2024, reflecting significant progress in maintaining peace and order in the province.
P/Lt. Col. Radino Belly, chief of the Police Operations Management Unit, Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), said law enforcement solved 3,692 cases out of 4,553 recorded crimes from January 1 to December 15 this year.
Among the solved cases, there were 376 index crimes, 1,611 non-index crimes, and 1,705 vehicular traffic incidents.
He emphasized that for cases where sufficient evidence has been gathered but suspects are still being pursued, the success rate stood at 99.1%, with 311 index crimes, 465 non-index crimes, and 44 vehicular incidents.
Despite the overall success, there was a 9% increase in index crimes compared to the same period in 2023, with cases rising from 650 to 707. Notable increases were observed in physical injury cases (87 from 64), rape (274 from 255), robbery (60 from 53), car theft (47 from 24), and special complex crimes (5 from 1).
Conversely, murder cases decreased slightly from 75 to 70, with homicide cases dropping from 21 to 17, and theft cases also declined from 153 to 146.
Homicide and rape were the most prevalent crimes against individuals during the same reporting period.
In drug-clearing initiatives, 1,197 out of 1,364 barangays in the province have been declared drug-free.
In the campaign against loose firearms, authorities confiscated 769 firearms through arrests, voluntary surrenders, and seizures.
The campaign also led to the apprehension of 2,193 wanted individuals, including 180 classified as most wanted. The PPO conducted over 2,000 preventive patrols and 280 community awareness programs, reaching approximately 9,000 residents as part of its efforts to enhance community safety and security.
