PWD arrested for stabbing in Villasis

A person with a disability (PWD) was arrested by police in Villasis after stabbing a man who declined his offer of a drink. The victim, Leonardo Calanno, a 40-year-old construction worker and resident of Barangay Bacag, Villasis, stabbed twice Sanny Micua Ramos, a 53-year-old wrapper maker and resident of the same barangay, who bore injuries in both of his armpit areas.

According to the police investigation, the victim was sitting near his house with his wife, Analyn Camacho Calanno, and their neighbor, Roxanne Mortera Tabilisma when the suspect approached and offered a drink, which was turned down.

When the victim declined, the suspect felt embarrassed.

5 minors arrested for stealing grocery items, fruits, and vegetables

FIVE minors were apprehended and brought to the barangay hall after being reported for theft at the public market in San Carlos City. Businesswoman Elma Ordonia Pascua, 51, a resident of Barangay Talang, San Carlos City, and Marjhon Tabias Rosario, 31, a fruit vendor from Barangay Baldog, San Carlos City, lodged the complaint against the minors, who are considered Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).

The market guard caught the youths stealing grocery items, fruits, and vegetables worth P15,000.

Their parents were summoned by barangay officials and asked to pay for the stolen items while the children were handed over to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of San Carlos CPS and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Lineman electrocuted, dies

A 24-year old lineman from the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO), identified as Ronel Alfonso Sanchez Quijano of Barangay Mapulo-Pulo, Basista, suffered a fatal accident while performing preventive maintenance work on October 21.

He was tasked with dismantling a primary metering device as part of the maintenance activities in Barangay Dulig. Despite the scheduled power interruption by the CENPELCO, the primary line that Quijano was working on was connected to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and suffered severe electrocution when he came into contact with the energized primary line.

He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. CENPELCO has condoled with the family and committed assistance.

Fight in Binmaley leaves man seriously injured 

A 33-year-old man was left with serious head injuries after being attacked with a metal pipe by another man whom he had challenged to a fistfight. The victim, identified as Brando Guzman Delos Reyes, was assaulted by 28-year-old Luis Castillo Valdez, a local fisherman and resident of Barangay Caloocan Dupo.

According to police investigations, an argument erupted when the victim suddenly challenged the suspect to a fight, even threatening to kill him. The suspect walked away from the confrontation but later that evening came to attack Delos Reyes who was asleep.

Barangay officials apprehended Valdez shortly after the assault, recovering the 27-inch pipe used in the attack, which was turned over to the police.

2-year-old boy dies after falling into pot of boiling water 

A two-year-old boy died after he fell into a pot of boiling water in San Fabian.

The boy, identified as Jay Jay Navarro, was playing nearby while his grandmother had left a pot of water boiling on the stove to prepare a bath for his ailing grandfather.

Shortly afterward, the boy started crying loudly and the was found submerged in the boiling water. He was immediately taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Tricycle driver shot by motorist in road rage incident

A 58-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a tricycle driver in the town of Bolinao. The incident took place at the intersection of Andres Cacho St. and Raymundo Celeste St. in Barangay Germinal. The victim was identified as Gabriel Cirilo Peralta Villanueva IV, a 54-year-old resident of Barangay Arnedo. The suspect, Eugene Añonuevo Crooks, is a resident of Barangay Concordia.

Prior to the shooting, Villanueva was navigating his tricycle along the national highway when he narrowly avoided a collision with a sedan driven by Crooks. A confrontation escalated into a heated argument, and Crooks exited his vehicle, withdrew a firearm, and fired at Villanueva but missed.

Following a hot pursuit operation, local police apprehended Crooks and confiscated a .45 caliber pistol, which was found with a fired cartridge still lodged inside.

Woman robbed while attending church service

A woman filed a report with the police after being robbed at a local church. Leticia Del Mundo Baloto, a 41-year-old vendor from Barangay Pogo, Mangaldan, parked her motorcycle in the compound of St. Thomas de Aquinas Church before attending mass with her two children. Upon returning, she found that her wallet was missing. The wallet contained several ATM cards, identification cards, an OFW ID, as well as cash amounting to P1,900 and some foreign currency.

One witness was able to identify the suspect as Ronnie Cabrera Tibunsay, a 36-year-old construction worker from Barangay Poblacion, Mangaldan.

Local police conducted a follow-up operation and investigated the matter using CCTV footage. However, despite their efforts, the stolen items were not recovered. Authorities are continuing their investigation to pursue justice for the victim.

Woman dies after falling from tricycle

A woman was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after falling from a tricycle in the town of Labrador. The incident occurred while the tricycle was traveling along Barangay Bolo, with 44-year-old market vendor Joamar Manglanlan Navarro driving and 53-year-old Marilene Peralta Manaois riding at the back of the motorbike.

The tricycle was struck from behind by a motorcycle operated by Private Jerome Riparip Ledron, a 23-year-old member of the Philippine Army stationed at Camp O’Donell in Capas, Tarlac, who was reportedly found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The impact caused Manaois to fall from the tricycle and suffer severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital for medical attention, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
