Major drug bust in Pangasinan yields shabu, other drugs

IN a successful joint operation between the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), several individuals were apprehended and a significant amount of illegal drugs was confiscated in Pangasinan on October 14.

Simultaneous operations were conducted in Tayug and Dasol as well as in Bacnotan and Tubao in La Union. Six suspects were arrested during these coordinated efforts, resulting in the seizure of suspected shabu, marijuana, and marijuana seeds.

Two injured in motorcycle collision

TWO individuals sustained injuries after their motorcycles collided along the stretch of Barangay Nilombot in Sta. Barbara.

An 18-year-old teen was riding his motorcycle along the road when another motorcyclist, 40-year-old Ronald Caguya Centinillar, a local driver residing in the same area, crashed into him. The latter was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

In a separate incident in Macayug, Mangaldan, a seven-year-old child was also involved in a motorcycle accident when she attempted to cross the road without noticing an approaching motorcycle. The child sustained injuries but was immediately taken to a hospital and is now in stable condition.

Motorcycle-riding businessman and vendor injured in collision

A businessman and a vendor sustained injuries after their motorcycles collided along the stretch of Barangay Anolid in Mangaldan.

Criselda Muyano Frianeza, a 49-year-old resident of Barangay Banaoang, Mangaldan, was riding her motorcycle when Dindo Billote Damasco, a 59-year-old businessman from Barangay Bari in the same town, suddenly crossed the road at the same time.

The impact caused both riders to fall to the pavement, resulting in injuries. They were promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Elderly woman found dead in river

THE lifeless body of a 70-year-old woman, who was earlier reported missing, was discovered on October 11 floating in a river by her relatives in the town of Malasiqui.

The victim, Cholinda Panoringan Ramos, a resident of Barangay Aliaga was reported missing and relatives started looking for her the day before after a cousin, Josephine Bugarin Boquia, came to bring food and did not find her at home.

Authorities believe that Cholinda, who according to her family often wandered away from home and would collect discarded items, slipped and fell into the river.

Elderly woman fatally struck by ambulance while crossing road

AN elderly woman lost her life after being struck by an ambulance while crossing the road.

The ambulance, driven by Julius Cancino Marzan, 44, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Bayambang, was rushing along the stretch of Barangay Poblacion Norte to bring a patient to the hospital when it hit Elsie Zabala Dion, a 73-year-old businesswoman from Bued, Calasiao.

Suspect attacks fellow farmer with pick bar

A heated dispute between two farmers turned awry in Barangya Pedro Orata, Urdaneta City.

Romulo Pascua Tembreza, a 78-year-old farmer, suffered injuries and lost a finger after being struck with a pick bar by his fellow farmer, Gualberto Peralta Isit.

According to police investigation, Revilina Isit, the suspect’s cousin, sought help from Tembreza, alleging that Isit had been harassing her. In an attempt to defend himself, Tembreza confronted Isit and the argument quickly turned violent.

Authorities swiftly apprehended Isit who will be charged with attempted homicide.

Construction worker attacked after intervening in fistfight

A 55-year-old construction worker was rushed to the hospital after he was struck on the head while trying to break up a fistfight in Asingan.

The victim, Nestor Masaoy Romero, intervened in a fight between one of his sons, 27-year-old John Paul Agpaoa Romero, and their 55-year-old neighbor Marcelino Monce Bucsit, who was wielding a machete.

The elder Romera was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment, while the police arrested the suspect, who now faces charges in court.

Bus crashes into motorcycle, 2 killed

A passenger bus collided with a motorcycle near the barangay hall in Tambac, Dagupan City, resulting in the death of the motorcycle driver and passenger who were both wearing helmets.

According to police investigations, the bus driver, Marvin Ramos Disu, 42 years old and a resident of San Fabian, attempted to overtake another vehicle and ended up crashing into the oncoming motorcycle.

Cook shot dead outside restaurant in Pozorrubio

A 25-year-old cook was fatally shot while taking a break outside a local restaurant in Pozorrubio.

The victim, Kryss Jan Balbin Poseliro, was resting with coworkers in front of the establishment in Barangay Alipangpang when an unidentified assailant back-riding on a scooter suddenly opened fire using a .45 caliber handgun.

According to police investigation, the cook sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
