Auditor and cashier nabbed in P8-M in theft

EDGARDO Evangelista Dela Cruz, a 65-year-old businessman residing in Barangay Concordia and owner of a trading company in Bolinao town, filed a complaint against his two employees for embezzling over P8 million from the company’s earnings. Accused employees were Jeanne Pauline Guantia, 27, an Internal Auditor, and Geraldine Calderon Caacbay, 31, a cashier. Both reside in Barangay Arnedo, Bolinao.

It was Operations Manager Mirasol Caacbay Marzan, who noted the discrepancy when she reviewed the company’s money remittances and noticed a significant amount missing from the collection sales. The company’s accountant Marjorie Catabay Calautit, confirmed the missing P8,614,766.00 cash after a cash count was made.

Both Guantia and Caacbay, eventually confessed to their collusion in misappropriating the funds and were charged with qualified theft.

Daughter stabbed by dad in Calasiao

Clara Oviedo Pasaoa, 33, suffered injuries to various parts of her body when her father, Cristobal Deniola Pasaoa, 66, resident of Barangay Nalsian in Calasiao, attacked and stabbed her.

According to police investigation, the suspect entered his daughter’s room, brandishing a knife, and stabbed her. Neighbors

intervened and helped subdue the assailant. Police investigation showed the suspect’s anger stemmed from his daughter’s frequent absence at home.

Dagupeño nabbed in drug-bust ops

ICO Fernandez, 23 years old and a resident of Barrozo Street, AB Fernandez East, Barangay Pantal in Dagupan City was arrested after he was found in possession of illegal drugs during a police operation.

He was in the company of two others who managed to flee before the police operatives could arrest them. Authorities confiscated a package of suspected shabu and a .38-caliber handgun with five bullets from the suspect.

Meanwhile, another Dagupeño, Kevin Angeles Zarate, 27, a resident of Barangay I, was arrested in a buy-bust  operation in Barangay Poblacion, Lingayen. He was nabbed after a police operative posing as a buyer bought shabu from him  The suspect yielded cash amounting to P4080.

Carpenter stabbed after an altercation

ELARDE Valdez Olivo, a 40-year-old farmer residing in Barangay Quinaoayanan in Bani, sustained injuries in various parts of his body after he was stabbed by the suspect, Rez Bariwan Andres, 52 fellow villager who works as a carpenter in the town of Bani.

According to police investigation, the victim, was having a drinking session with a neighbor when the suspect, arrived. Police said the suspect became angry following an altercation that resulted in Olivo’s death. Andres initially left and returned with a knife and stabbed Olivo. Police apprehended the suspect as he attempted to flee. Charges are being prepared against him.

Tricycle collides with car, 1 dead

JELYN Melu Lucena, 58, resident of Barangay San Nicolas in Villasis, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after the tricycle she was riding collided with a car along the national highway in the town’s Barangay Bacag.

The tricycle driven by Gary Lopez Gabitan, 49, also a resident of Barangay San Nicolas in Villasis, was hit by Emmanuel Kalu Kingsley, a 24-year-old Nigerian national, when he initially attempted to overtake the tricycle but returned to his lane behind the tricycle upon seeing an oncoming motorcycle. His sudden move struck the rear portion of the tricycle, causing it to skid several meters and fall into a canal.

Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries to various parts of their bodies. They were taken to the hospital, but Lucena did not survive.

Teacher fails to control his motorcycle, crashes dies

JOEL Manandeg Rosario, a teacher residing in Barangay Tandoc, San Carlos City, was riding his motorcycle in Sitio Darlong, Barangay Gueteb, when he lost control of his unit and crashed on the road.

According to his wife, Marilou De Guzman-Rosario, also a teacher, her husband was declared dead on arrival and confirmed police reports that there was no foul play in his death.

Farmer drowns in river after diving into it

JONIE Estuesta Parido, a 63-year-old resident of Barangay Luna, died when he drowned in a river in in Brgy. Tara in Bolinao town. According to reports, the victim dove into the river but he failed to resurface.

The Bolinao Police received a call about the drowning from Crosaldo, the victim’s son, after he found his father’s lifeless body submerged underwater. He rushed his father to the nearest hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigation revealed that the victim had a history of hypertension and respiratory difficulties.
