Pangasinan PNP starts plans for mid-term elections
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) is moving forward from the ”very peaceful and manageable” of the crime situation in the province, is preparing plans to beef up security for the 2025 midterm elections.
This was confirmed by P/Col. Jeff Fanged, PPPO director, as ordered by Chief PNP Rommel Francisco Marbil.
In an interview, Fanged said the PPPO started reviewing and updating the list of wanted persons and individuals involved in past election-related incidents and pursuing criminal groups suspected of being involved in the political campaigns of some politicians.
“Ongoing ang mga arrests na ginagawa natin, at paghuhuli sa mga suspected members ng mga gun-for-hire groups,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PPPO reported the seizure of P500-M worth of shabu, weighing 800 grams last month in its relentless campaign against illegal drugs in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
It recently launched its “Smart Policing” campaign aimed at enhancing the traditional barangay information network with a new system called “eye detect,” in providing information to the PNP.
Fanged also cited the involvement of the media and influencers in the campaign. (Ahikam Pasion)
