Couple drown in Burgos’ “death pool” tourist spot
A married couple on vacation drowned while swimming at the “death pool”, a popular tourist destination in Burgos, Pangasinan last June 22.
The victims were identified as Gonzalo Maglalang, 47, and his wife, Emelita Maglalang, 48.
The search and rescue teams of Burgos MDRRMO, Burgos PNP and Agno PNP took almost four hours to retrieve the bodies of victims in waters near Barangay Baruan in Agno town.
The couple were rushed to Dasol Community Hospital but were declared as dead-on-arrival.
Based on the initial investigation led by Cpt. Ross Brian Marmeto, chief of police of Agno, the couple took a walk along with a 25-year old son at 5:00 PM on Saturday, away from a beach resort where they were staying.
While the family was taking pictures at the top of a rock formation near the death pool, the wife accidentally slipped and fell. The husband immediately responded to rescue his wife but was carried away by strong waves. (Kim Gealogo)
