69-year-old man arrested for stabbing co-vendor

A 69-year-old man was arrested after stabbing his co-vendor in front of a bus station in Barangay Poblacion, Alaminos City last May 21.

According to P/Major Oliver Baniqued, Chief Investigator of the Alaminos City Police, the suspect, Hercules Bataller, a resident of Poblacion, Alaminos, stabbed the victim, Christian Callega, 33, a resident of Barangay Dampay in the middle of altercation.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect approached the victim at his food stall at 11:20 p.m. on May 21, to confront him about an unresolved issue. When their talk became a shouting match, Bataller pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed the victim in the head and neck area.

A report stated that the suspect had a previous relationship with the victim’s mother.

The victim was rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital and is now in stable condition after receiving immediate medical attention.

Meanwhile, Bataller is already in the custody of Alaminos City Police Station, charged for Frustrated Homicide. (Kim Gealogo)
