Contacts of arrested shabu courier being determined

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office is still investigating who are the local contacts and source of shabu of a suspected courier of illegal drugs from Metro Manila are, from whom lawmen seized more than P2 million worth of shabu in Lingayen recently.

P/Capt. Renan de la Cruz, police information officer, said the suspect, whose name was withheld, is not from Pangasinan with no relatives in the province but frequents the province transacting business with local contacts.

Investigation showed the suspect just came out of jail after posting his bail bond and regularly brings shabu to his contacts in Pangasinan.

10 barangays apply for drug-free status 

TEN barangays in Pangasinan have filed their applications with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for a drug-free status.

These are Barangays Mestizo and San Juan in San Carlos City, Barangay Sapang, Bucao, Pao and San Ramon in Manaoag, Alacan and Nibaliw Centro in San Fabian and Poblacion East in Agno.

Meanwhile, PDEA awarded the municipality of Sto. Tomas a resolution last week congratulating it for retaining its drug-free status throughout the years. The resolution was approved by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing citing the fact that all 10 barangays of the town are drug-free.
