Seven persons arrested inside drug den in Dagupan City
A DRUG den operator and seven drug users having a “pot session” inside the den in Barangay Bacayao Norte in Dagupan City were arrested during a raid conducted by joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the police in the early morning of April 26.
PDEA Region 1 Director Joel Plaza said first to be arrested in a drug buy-bust operation was Ricardo de Vera, alias “Ricky”, the maintainer of the drug den, a High Value Target (HVT) for illegal drugs. A PDEA undercover agent bought one plastic sachet of shabu worth P1,000 from De Vera. Shortly after his arrest, he led the lawmen to the drug den where the seven drug users were in the middle of a session.
Arrested were Fernando Ramos y Tamayo, Lea Miguel y Untalan, Alvin Capua y Casilang, Mayleen Maramba y Gudmalin, Lorence Pamo Sr. y Renton; Eduardo Quintos y Morales; and Alfredo Guillermo III y Tan.
Seven more heat-sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, more or less 12 grams in weight worth P81,000 were seized from the drug den being maintained by suspect De Vera.
Also seized by lawmen were a digital weighing scale, a bundle of empty plastic sachets and assorted paraphernalia, and one genuine P1,000 bill that was used as buy-bust money to entrap suspect De Vera.
It was learned that two of the seven inside the drug den were from Alaminos City who went to the area to buy shabu.
Lawmen were informed that the drug den was not only used for pot session but as a distribution hub for shabu to drug dependents in Dagupan and other parts of Pangasinan.
The successful operation was conducted jointly by PDEA Region 1, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, Dagupan Police and police intelligence unit. A kagawad of Barangay Bacayao Norte witnessed the raid.
Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 12 Possession of a Drug Paraphernalia), and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, will be filed against the suspects.
All are now detained at PDEA Region 1 in Carlatan, San Fernando City, La Union. (Butch Uka)
