
Ex-provincial administrator killed inside his car
A FORMER provincial administrator of Pangasinan was found dead inside his car parked on Maramba St, Barangay Poblacion Norte in Sta. Barbara town on April 5, 10:30 p.m.
Albertini de Guzman Jr, 72, of Barangay Banaoang, Sta. Barbara was inside his car with a shoelace tied around his neck when the police came to check on him. He was seated at the driver’s seat.
It was Mark Christian Zara, barangay tanod of Poblacion Norte, who called the police about De Guzman’s car that was parked for two hours with its hazard warning lights on.
Responding policemen brought De Guzman to Mapandan Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His remains will be interred on April 16.
In an interview with Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan. P/ Lt. Col. Jun Wacnag, OIC- town police chief, said that they were still determining the motive behind the De Guzman’s killing. He served as municipal administrator of Sta. Barbara.
He said they have a suspect but they cannot disclose it yet.
“The victim and the suspect apparently knew each other and they had communication,” Wacnag said. He added that they are eyeing a woman who may be behind the killing.
The car’s key and the victim’s cellular phones were missing. He reportedly went to a money remittance shop before the crime happened.
De Guzman’s relatives said he was set to fly to New Zealand this month and had bought some “pasalubong” for his grandson and other family members. (Eva Visperas)
