Bomb scare cancels classes in Urdaneta school

STUDENTS and teachers of the Urdaneta City National High School (UCNHS) were sent home after receiving a reports of a bomb threat on Tuesday, February 21.

Personnel from the Urdaneta City Police Station and the 5th District Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (DECU) were dispatched to the school building, and immediately cordoned off the area.

Bomb-sniffing dogs and DECU personnel responded and recovered said suspicious item, that turned out to be a bad prank. The package contained a stone, wallet, phone charger, and paper where the warning was written.

It was Jonald E. Locquiao, chairman of the School Disaster Rescue and Relief Management (SDRRM) of the UCNHS who went to the police station after receiving reports of a suspicious package found at the female comfort room of the school building.

Classes resumed the following day, while authorities are currently investigating the perpetrator’s identity.  (Ahikam Pasion)
