THE National Bureau of Investigation Dagupan District Office (NBI-DADO) clarified that the persons arrested over alleged extortion in San Carlos City are not one of theirs.

This was confirmed by Atty. Rizaldy Jaymalin, NBI-DADO Chief, in an interview over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan on Thursday, February 09, 2023.

Jaymalin reacted to earlier news reports that radio broadcaster Ronald ‘Allan’ Sison who was arrested with three others, claimed to be an agent of NBI.

Sison and his group were cornered in a hot pursuit operation by responding policemen from San Carlos City, Sunday night, February 05, 2023 after allegedly extorting P10,000 from peryahan operators.

Jaymalin maintained that while Sison was frequently seen associating with NBI agents, he is not an organic member of the agency.

It was San Carlos PNP that requested confirmation of Sison’s claim that he is an NBI agent who presented an NBI ID and after his firearm used in the alleged extortion scam was seized.

Arrested with Sison were Bryan Caballero, 27; Arvin Garin, 48; and Alejandro Caldona, 44, of Barangay Malued, Dagupan City.

“In response to their query, I issued a certification which states that Mr. Allan Sison and three of his cohorts are not members of the Bureau”, Jaymalin said, adding that Sison and Garin are neither assets nor confidential agents of the NBI.

Sison and Alvin Garin’s “NBI IDs”, along with other firearms and live ammunitions were seized by arresting policemen.

When asked why Sison was frequently seen with the NBI during operations, Jaymalin said that Sison would tag along in his capacity as a media practitioner.

Kung ano man ang involvement nila . the NBI does not condone nor tolerate any wrongdoings by any individual specially people who pretend to be one with authority”, one NBI agent added.

However, Jaymalin clarified that the NBI-DADO will not pursue a case against Sison, since the police already filed raps on usurpation of authority but urged persons victimized by Sison to come forward and file their complaints at the NBI-DADO office

“Kapag may mga complainants, doon kami magsasampa ng kaso sa kanila”, said Jaymalin.  (Ahikam Pasion)
