TRAFFIC stood still along the Manila North Road  at 7:30 p.m. on January 4 when one vehicle stopped in the middle of the Teofilo Sison Bridge in Carmen, Rosales .

When the police arrived to respond to a concerned citizen’s call about a gridlock on the bridge, they found a stalled Toyota Fortuner whose driver laid motionless behind the steering wheel and both his shoulder and left cheek bloodied.

The driver of the vehicle, with Plate No. NAA 8356, was identified by his driver’s license in his wallet, as one Bryan Trinidad y Dalid, 51, former barangay captain of Toboy, Asingan.

He was rushed to the Conrado F. Estrella Regional Medical and Trauma Center in Barangay Carmay, Rosales, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician.

Investigation showed Trinidad was proceeding north towards the town of Villasis when  two unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle came from behind his vehicle and gunned him down then fled towards Villasis. (Leonardo Micua)
