Local farmers association president shot dead
A local farmer’s association president in Lingayen town, who just made his rounds after sorting out names for fuel subsidies to fellow farmers, was shot dead on Wednesday, June 22.
The victim was identified as Rodrigo Fernandez, a resident of Barangay Lasip. He is a former barangay kagawad and currently the president of the farmer association in the barangay.
Police investigation showed the victim and his son were onboard a tricycle and were already in front of their residence when two assailants onboard a motorcycle riding in tandem shot Fernandez. His son was unharmed.
Investigators recovered three spent shells from a caliber 45 handgun. The victim sustained a fatal gunshot injury on his jaw, which may have caused his death.
