AN American fugitive was arrested by Pangasinan police and other joint operatives in Barangay Malued, Dagupan City on Jan. 17.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office identified the fugitive as Rexfordgay Sanculi Velasco, 43, a US national.

The police described Velasco as, “undesirable and overstaying alien and poses risk to public safety and security being a fugitive from justice” as relayed by Special Agent Michael Kin of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, US Department of Navy at the US Embassy in Manila on December 8, 2021.

Velasco has an outstanding federal warrant of arrest issued by the US Marine Corps Absentee Collection Center on May 25, 2005 for military desertion.

The subject’s renewal application of passport was also denied by the US Department of State.

“These international criminals are not allowed to stay here in the Philippines. Many of them are mostly part of the international syndicates that try to establish in our country. But through our coordination and collaboration with different government agencies, we will make sure that these criminals will be placed behind bars” said Col. Richmond Tadina, Pangasinan Police director. (Eva Visperas)
