Nine arrested in illegal “tupada”

AMID the growing popularity of e-sabong in the country, nine persons were arrested in separate raids by the Pangasinan police against illegal cockfighting or “tupada” in three towns last November 28.
Raided in the intensified campaign against illegal cockfighting were in Burgos Street, Binmaley; Sitio Sabor in Barangay Salud, Bolinao and Poblacion, Labrador.
Arrested in Binmaley were Rommel de Guzman, 34; Dario de los Santos, 50; Arnold de Guzman, 26; Mark de Guzman, 28; Felipe de Guzman, 60; and Jaime Mejia, 45. Arrested in Bolinao were Ronnie Fernandez and Leo Molina while Arman Sagaban, 41, was arrested in Labrador.
At large are Iking Quebada, Boyet Camero, Marcial Caampued, Jupiter Suarez and one alias “Dodong” who managed to escape before the policemen arrived in Barangay Salud, Bolinao.
Three other unidentified persons, all believed tricycle drivers, eluded arrest in the police raid in Labrador.
The operations seized more than P6,000 bets, two dead and one live fighting cocks and gaffs. (Leonardo Micua)
