THE Sison Police recovered two bricks and 10 tubes of dried marijuana leaves placed on two boxes all weighed 13 kilograms valued at P1.5 million, along the roadside in Barangay Agat, Sison town some 500 meters away before a checkpoint.

Police believe the cargo was dumped by unidentified suspects who were about to cross a checkpoint Thursday night.

The recovery of the dumped marijuana happened after the Sison Police received a report regarding an attempt by members of a drug syndicate to transport marijuana from Baguio City to Pangasinan.

Upon receiving the report, elements of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 1, the Sison Police and the 2nd Mobile Force Company, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, reinforced checkpoint operations in the borders between La Union and Pangasinan.

Evidently, the unidentified suspects decided to drop the cargo, some 500 meters away from the checkpoint in Barangay Agat, Sison on seeing too many policemen manning a checkpoint to escape arrest.

Meanwhile, a hotel room boy from Barangay Nalsian, Calasiao was arrested by the police in a drug buy-bust operation Thursday night in Barangay Tebeng, Dagupan City.

Arrested during the operation coordinated by the Dagupan Police with PDEA Region 1, was Jerick Sangalang, 24. Policemen seized two small sachets containing shabu that weighed .04 grams, valued at P2,700. (Leonardo Micua)
