SFA beneficiaries will go through extensive validation process
The Local Government of Lingayen assured utmost transparency and accountability in the disbursement of the ₱40 million Special Financial Assistance Fund (SFA) from Malacañang amid the issue of graft and corruption that has rocked the national government over ghost and substandard flood control projects.
LGU Lingayen said that beneficiaries of the SFA will go through strict identification, validation, and verification to make sure that they were really severely affected by the past Typhoon “Uwan”. The safeguards include a thorough validation process, checking of records, and cross-checking of the list of beneficiaries to prevent duplication, misrepresentation, and erroneous inclusion of unqualified beneficiaries. Campaign versus mufflers intensified in San Jacinto
The San Jacinto Municipal Police Station (MPS) has intensified its enforcement of a municipal council ordinance banning the installation of mufflers in motorcycles, tricycle and any motor vehicles within the town’s jurisdiction.
Municipal Ordinance No. 04-2019 strictly prohibits motorcycles, tricycles, and four or 10-wheel vehicles and the like from using mufflers that could enhance the sound of vehicles that may disturb the peace in any part of San Jacinto. The police reminded motor vehicle owners to abide by the ordinance as anyone whose motor vehicles had mufflers installed on it will be fined. (Denise Briliante)

“Boga’ banned in Pangasinan
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reiterated its call to the public not to use “boga” to create sound during the revelry to welcome the New Year on December 31 in any place in Pangasinan.
PDRRMO said “boga” is a kind of explosive device that is unsafe, dangerous for any user and other persons in the vicinity and could even ignite a fire, calling on the public to use safer means to create sounds during the New Year revelry. (Aaron Navelgas)

Policemen undergo surprise drug testing
All uniformed personnel of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office at Camp Gov. Antonio U. Sison in Lingayen, including its civilian employees, underwent surprise drug testing conducted by authorized medical and laboratory personnel.
The drug testing is part of the internal cleansing program of the PPO by ensuring that policemen will become models of discipline and integrity, and will be really free from illegal drugs. (Mathew Pacheco)

Plaza stall robbed; suspects are minors
Unidentified persons, probably children, barged into a stall at the Mangaldan Plaza and emptied it of its goods and valuable belongings.
Although the stall owners did not immediately report the incident to the police, she suspected the culprits were minors who continued to prowl around at night despite the curfew for minors from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily.
The stall that was robbed had no security guard on duty at night, unlike bazaars, which are guarded by security personnel at night. (Joana de Vera)

Drowned boy retrieved in San Jacinto
The body of a 17-year-old boy who drowned while swimming along the Angalacan River in Mangaldan on December 13 has already been retrieved following a retrieval operation conducted by local authorities.
The body of the victim, who is from Barangay Gueguesangen, Mangaldan, was found in Barangay Casibong three days later, on Monday, December 16
Witnesses said the body swam to the middle part of the river, but after a few minutes, he was seen asking for help while on the verge of drowning. Those on the riverbank did not come to his rescue as they do not know how to swim, and instead reported the matter to the authorities. (Denisse Brillante)

Misa de Gallo starts at Minor Basilica of Manaoag
Thousands of Catholics flocked to the Minor Basilica of Manaoag in the early morning of December 16 for the traditional Misa de Gallo, starting at 4:30 a.m.
As part of the Christian tradition, the Misa de Gallo will be held for nine consecutive days till December 24.
The Manaoag police provided security around the church to ensure the safety of thousands of people attending the daily Misa de Gallo. (Denise Brillante)
