Motorcycle thief arrested in San Carlos City

A motorcycle thief was arrested by the police in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. The investigation reveals that the owner parked his motorcycle in front of their house without removing its key. The suspect spotted the motorcycle with a key inserted in its ignition switch and sped off to an unknown direction. The thief was arrested when he was involved in a collision on board the stolen motorcycle. The police promptly arrested him. The stolen motorcycle was subsequently returned to its owner.

Unfinished seawall saved Pugaro

Residents of Barangay Pugaro in Dagupan City believe that had it not been for the still uncompleted seawall that was designed to protect their village from dangerous sea waves, Pugaro would have absorbed more telling devastation from storm surge triggered by Super Typhoon Uwan.

Pugaro Barangay Captain Nestor Victorio said that the seawall project was started by former 4th District Congressman  Christopher de Venecia, needs to be continued and funded to ensure Pugaro’s continuous protection from high waves coming from the Lingayen Gulf. To date, some of the residents who lost their homes from the fury of the super typhoon still have not returned home as they had no more homes to return to after these were flattened by storm surge.

Anti-drug operations of Region 1 police score big 

A total of 570.68 grams of shabu and two grams of dried marijuana leaves, all worth ₱3.8 million, were seized by the Police Regional Office 1 in just one week of anti-drug operation for the period November 6 to 12.

At least 13 people involved in drug dealing as well as in the use of illegal drugs were arrested in these operations, conducted by the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, in line with the intensified campaign against illegal drugs all over the Ilocos Region.

 Umingan girl bags gold in Javelin Throw

A young athlete from, Umingan, Lady Aj Andrea B. Cacatian, bagged the gold medal in the Javelin Throw in the Batang Pinoy 2025  held in General Santos City sometime in October, participated in by some  15,000 athletes from all over the country.

Because of her feat, Lady Aj Andrea is now the toast of the whole town of Umingan, praised for her strong muscles and stamina.

Second placer to Lady Aj Andrea was Lovelyn Carolino, who bagged the silver medal in the javelin throw event. Both are members of the Pangasinan team that competed in Batang Pinoy 2025.

Barangay kapitan warns after fireworks explosion 

Barangay Captain Mark Fiel Gomez of Tebeng in Dagupan City warned his constituents to report to him and to the police any other persons coming to their village with the intent to set up an illegal firecracker factory.

This, after one person was killed and four others injured during a firecracker explosion that happened in Tebeng at past 3:00 p.m. on November 16. The explosion also damaged several houses in the vicinity.

Gomez said the fireworks factory had no permit issued by the authorities, and whoever may have a hand in the putting up of the exploded factory is answerable under the law.

 Parked motorcycle burns 

A motorcycle parked in front of a hardware store in Barangay Buayaen, Bayambang caught fire. Investigation showed that the motorcycle belonged to a security guard on duty at the hardware store.

Also burned were important documents of the motorcycle owner stored inside a utility box, including a tarpaulin and a table beside the motorcycle.

Timely arrival of firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection in Bayambang prevented the fire from spreading to the hardware store. The fire was put off after 10 minutes.

4 explosion victims now out of hospital, another still critical 

The four people injured in a fireworks factory explosion at 3:40 p.m. on November 16 in Barangay Tebeng, Dagupan City were already discharged from the Region 1 Medical Center where they were treated.

However, the fifth victim remained under observation due to his critical condition after getting third-degree burns all over his body as a result of the incident.

The explosion, heard even in the adjacent towns of Pangasinan, disturbed people taking an afternoon nap inside their homes during a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Childhood literacy program intensified in San Carlos City 

The San Carlos City Library has intensified its childhood literacy program consistent with the observance of the National Children’s Month 2025 in Barangay Lilimasan, San Carlos City.

The celebration included storytelling sessions, interactive activities, and creative workshops for daycare learners coming from San Carlos City’s District 3.

Another part of the celebration was the distribution of free reading and learning materials consistent with the effort to make educational materials accessible to all young San Carleños.
