Sual LGU adopts 4-day work week
IN a move to boost productivity and promote work-life balance, the local government of Sual has announced the implementation of a four-day compressed work week beginning September 1.
This new arrangement, outlined in Executive Order No. 42 signed by Mayor Liseldo Calugay, modifies the traditional Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule to Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, not all departments will shift to the new schedule.
Frontline and essential service units, such as the Rural Health Unit and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), will continue operating under the regular five-day work week to ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical services.
To accommodate residents needing assistance on Fridays, the municipal one-stop shop will remain open to provide necessary public services.
The local government said the new work arrangement aims to give employees more quality time with their families while enhancing focus and efficiency during working hours.
Sual joins a growing number of municipalities in the country exploring alternative work arrangements in the wake of evolving workplace norms and rising demands for work-life integration. (Ahikam Pasion)
