Rosario urges fellow mayors to join good governance movement

MANAOAG Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario called on fellow local chief executives in Pangasinan to support the push for full transparency, accountability, and justice in flood control projects.

“I believe we must take a stand. It’s time to conduct thorough investigations to uncover the root cause of the problem and resolve it,” said Rosario, who serves as the provincial president of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) and the sole signatory for Pangasinan in the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG).

In a statement on August 27, 2025, he said the probes should include the alleged collusion between government officials and favored contractors.

His call comes in the wake of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28, where he ordered an investigation into the ₱350 billion worth of flood control projects that have been under scrutiny for potential misuse of public funds.

As members of M4GG, Rosario and other local leaders are urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other relevant government agencies to provide full and immediate disclosure of project details.

In a show of solidarity, Rosario assured that he will relay this information to fellow mayors in Pangasinan during the upcoming M4GG membership application opening from September 8 to 19.

The M4GG is an alliance of local leaders committed to combating corruption and building resilient, future-ready communities through empowered local governments that prioritize the welfare of the people over political power, according to their official social media accounts.

While M4GG does not collect membership fees, members are encouraged to make voluntary contributions to sustain its programs and activities such as advocacy campaigns on anti-corruption, transparency, and accountability, as well as disaster preparedness and social development.

The group also offers governance workshops for mayors and local government staff, peer-learning visits to showcase best practices, and partnerships for leadership development and local community programs. (Ahikam Pasion)
