THE provincial government’s proposed budget for 2026 is projected to reach a little over ₱7 billion, Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino said in a media interview on September 8.

According to Lambino, the amount reflects an increase of about ₱1.2 billion compared to the current year’s allocation.

He explained that the Capitol is already in the budget conference stage, where the Provincial Budget Office consolidates the Annual Investment Plans (AIPs) and proposed budgets of each department.

“From the budget conference, there will be a final draft. Eventually, when the AIP for 2026 and the other budget are approved by the Provincial Development Council, then it will be presented to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) for the formal budget hearings under the Committee on Appropriations,” said Lambino, who presides over the SP.

The vice governor noted that while allocations for mandatory expenses such as personnel services and loan payments remain, major portions of the 2026 budget will continue to focus on healthcare, agriculture, and education. (Eva Visperas)
