R1MC says blood supply insufficient due to growing demand

SUPPLY in blood banks is still insufficient to meet demand throughout the country, according to Dr. Gerald Dioquino, Blood Donor Recruitment Manager of the Region 1 Medical Center, as he appealed to the public for more donors.

Dioquino graced the blood donation project of RMN Networks, in cooperation with the RMN Foundation and IFM Dagupan as part of the 73rd RMN anniversary, which was able to collect 32 bags of blood. (Mathew Pacheco)

Mangatarem women helping reduce waste through recycling

WOMEN in Mangatarem were taught to sew garments and convert tetra packs and old newspapers into home decors like garlands, flower pens, eco bags and others, helping them earn from home and help reduce waste.

Officials called on more women in the town to attend their lectures and seminars that could turn them into small-time producers and entrepreneurs. (Juana de Vera)

Mangaldan SP mulling over protection for youth

THE Sangguniang Bayan of Mangaldan is now discussing an ordinance that seeks to extend protection and intervention for youth against online sexual exploitation.

Part of the ordinance is an advocacy program and a comprehensive information drive to inform the people on the provisions of the ordinance. A Bahay Kalinga, where victims can be taken care of, will also be built. (Jam Victorio)

Malimgas Market vendors complain about stainless tables, project delay

VENDORS at the Malimgas Public Market in Dagupan City are complaining about the stainless tables that were installed by contractors of the past Lim administration, which they said are not really made of stainless material.

Contractor LXS Builder and Supply began the ₱3.98 million project in December 2021 and was supposed to be completed after 90 days, but it remains unfinished.  The company has yet to respond to a letter sent by the city legal office. (Nil Moyano)

Junk shop, junkyard inventory set in Pozorrubio

THE Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of  Pozorrubio is set to visit all operating junk shops and junkyards to conduct an inventory of the number of their workers and work conditions.

This is pursuant to the executive order of the local government seeking to determine the condition of workers in the junk shops and junkyards and their existing facilities in the recycling of wastes. (Jam Victorio)

Bayambang implements re-routing scheme

THE Bayambang municipal government implemented a traffic rerouting scheme around the central terminal in the town starting  September 1. Only one-way route was allowed around the terminal, as well as the round trip around the new Bagsakan Market.

The rerouting scheme was decided during a meeting conducted by members of Task Force Disiplina and the Bayambang Public Safety Office, and attended by bus and van operators as well as jeepney drivers. (Joana de Vera)

Public encouraged to dial 911 for emergencies

THE Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) encouraged the public to dial the 911 hotline in case of emergencies like vehicular accidents, ambulance assistance, crimes, nuisance, and residential fires.

PDRRMO said the public can also make non-emergency calls such as to request public assistance, make inquiries, and when there are seeming threats from sparking electrical wires and transformers. (Jam Victorio)

Umingan vulnerable sectors get access to P20/k rice

RESIDENTS of Umingan who are part of the vulnerable sector — like senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities, beneficiaries of 4Ps and Solo Parents — benefited from the P20 per kilo rice from the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, which came to town only for the second time this year.

Each person was allowed to buy a maximum of 10 kilos of rice for a time. (Jam Victorio)
