Mayor orders tight watch on Mangaldan’s infra projects
MANGALDAN Mayor Bonafe de Vera Parayno has issued a stern directive to ensure strict monitoring of all public infrastructure projects within the town, stressing that no project should fall below set standards.
During a joint executive-legislative meeting on September 8, Parayno said the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), under the leadership of Municipal Engineer Minnie S. Casipit, is tasked with overseeing the execution of all town projects.
The mayor emphasized that every project must undergo rigorous inspection at every stage of construction, with special attention given to the materials used, labor conditions, and compliance with technical specifications.
She also highlighted the need for seamless coordination between the MEO, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and other national agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways in implementing projects funded by the national government.
Local government officials present at the meeting agreed to step up efforts to monitor and audit ongoing projects.
Parayno’s move comes amid ongoing probes at the national level on allegations of corruption and irregularities in flood control projects across the country. (Ahikam Pasion)
