AHEAD OF 2026 MARIAN CENTENNIAL

MAJOR infrastructure works are underway across Manaoag as the local government races to complete key projects ahead of the highly anticipated Centennial Canonization of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in April 2026.

Mayor Jeremy Agerico “Ming” Rosario reported that among the ongoing developments is the new Manaoag Public Market, which is already 50% complete. Rosario expressed optimism that, with favorable weather conditions in the coming months, the construction will be completed ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, the Pasalubong Center, a legacy project of former 4th District Rep. Christopher “Toff” de Venecia, is being continued by incumbent Rep. Gina “Manay Gina” de Venecia.

Another priority is the rehabilitation of the religious article vendors’ area beside the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, which was damaged by a fire last year.

Also in progress are the restoration and improvement of Rizal Park and a new Liga ng mga Barangay Office.

Rosario acknowledged that many of these projects were made possible through the support of lawmakers at both the House and Senate. He appealed to contractors to ensure quality workmanship and to expedite construction, citing January 2026 as the soft deadline for project completion.

The national government and the Department of Tourism have already expressed full support for the upcoming centennial coronation, which will be led by Archbishop Socrates Villegas of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. (Ahikam Pasion)
