SP congratulates Philippine Independent Church for 123rd anniversary
THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dagupan, on motion of Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo, passed a resolution expressing felicitations and recognition to the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) on the occasion of its 123rd founding anniversary of proclamation on August 3, 2025.
According to the resolution, IFI, also known as the Philippine Independent Church, was formally proclaimed on August 3, 1902 as a religious movement founded on principles of Filipino nationalism, spiritual autonomy, and social justice.
Its 123rd anniversary is “a milestone that signifies more than a century of steadfast commitment to its mission of faith, love of country, and service to the people,” the resolution reads.
According to Tamayo, IFI continues to serve as an edifying force in the city of Dagupan, promoting the spiritual, moral, and social upliftment of its faithful, and actively engaging in programs that nurture community development, justice, and compassion. (Leonardo Micua)
