THE Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) deployed a team of seven linemen and one foreman to Pangasinan to assist in restoring electricity in areas left without power following the onslaught of Typhoon Emong (International name: Go-may).

INEC Chief of Staff Athena Nicolette Pilar said the team is expected to help repair damaged transmission lines within a week.

“This is INEC’s way of giving back, especially since Ilocos Norte was largely spared from the typhoon’s impact,” she said, noting that the assistance is a voluntary initiative led by Acting General Manager Perry Martinez.

The team was assigned to the town of Bani, one of the hardest-hit towns in the province.

Other electric cooperatives across the country also sent teams to support the restoration efforts.

As of last week, several areas in Pangasinan remained without electricity, including those served by the Palamis-Bolinao 69kV line, which supplies power to the substations of the Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (PANELCO) in Dasol, Bani, Concordia, and Tara.

PANELCO I General Manager Jojo Segundera expressed gratitude to INEC for its swift assistance. (Ahikam Pasion)
