Fogging ops vs. dengue continue in Mangaldan schools

By August 5, 2025Inside News

AS part of intensified efforts to combat dengue, fogging operations were carried out on Tuesday, July 29, at Maasin and Malabago Elementary Schools in Mang

The initiative aligns with Mayor Bona Fe De Vera Parayno’s directive to mitigate mosquito-borne diseases, particularly during the rainy season and frequent flooding.

The operations were jointly conducted by personnel from the Municipal Health Office (MHO) and General Services Office (GSO), in coordination with school administrators.

Sanitation Officer VI Zita Lapore explained that their priority is to visit schools that have not yet undergone fogging or misting treatments. Schools that experienced severe flooding will also be given priority, followed by others deemed high-risk for potential dengue outbreaks.

The local government, through the MHO, also urges the public to cooperate in eliminating mosquito breeding grounds in their communities to help prevent the spread of dengue.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) continues to promote the “DENG-GET-OUT” campaign, which includes the 4 o’clock habit known as the 4Ts, which consists of the following:

TAOB – Turn over containers such as flower pots, buckets, and old tires to prevent stagnant water from becoming mosquito breeding sites.

TAKTAK – Empty any collected water and shake containers vigorously.

TUYO – Keep containers dry to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.

TAKIP – Cover water storage containers like drums and tanks to keep mosquitoes out.

Health authorities said these simple yet effective steps significantly help break the dengue transmission cycle. (Ahikam Pasion)
