OFW assistance program launched in 3rd District
AGARANG Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) was recently launched in Pangasinan’s Third District to assist displaced Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the area.
An initial batch of 14 OFWs were the first beneficiaries who received P850,000 in financial aid under the program undertaken by Rep. Rachel Arenas in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region 1, led by Regional Director Christian Rey Sison.
The aid recipients include OFWs who have completed their contracts, suffered from serious illnesses, or been affected by crises in other countries.
This program is part of the government’s broader campaign to support OFWs, especially those who have lost their jobs.
Arenas was one of the lawmakers who proposed the creation of a dedicated government agency focused solely on the welfare of OFWs, which led to the establishment of the DMW. (Ahikam Pasion)
