Dagupan scholarship strictly for residents-MBTF

MAYOR Belen Fernandez vowed that Dagupan’s scholarship program will only be for bona fide city residents and the full benefits will be distributed to the grantees, taking a swipe at alleged anomalies during her predecessor’s administration.

Anti-Sardinas policy gets support from transport group 

THE One Pangasinan Transport Federation, led by Bernard Tuliao vowed to support the Anti-Sardinas Policy of the Department of Transportation  (DOTr), which prohibits overloading.

The policy will be implemented strictly by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), along with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), whose enforcement teams will be deployed to check on public transportation along highways. (Mathew Pacheco)

Parents worried about daily high tide

PARENTS of students of the West Central School called on the Dagupan City government to provide temporary foot bridges that their children can use when going to and from school during high tide and storms.

They said flooding due to high tide occurs almost daily along Burgos Street, in front of the West Central Elementary School, which puts children at risk of diseases such as leptospirosis.  (Joana de Vera)

Prolonged flooding noted in Caranglaan sitio

RESIDENTS of Sitio Puelay in Barangay Caranglaan called on the Dagupan City government to do something about the standing floodwater in their area, which has been there for weeks.

They told IFM Radio Dagupan that the stagnant water affects their livelihood as well as their health. (Rona Racca)

Provincial gov’t reminds riders on reflective vest mandate

THE provincial government again issued a reminder that there is a provincial ordinance strictly requiring all motorcycle riders to wear a crash helmet as well as a reflective vest when traveling along highways, especially at night.

This was sought as the number of motorcycle accidents again increased province-wide in Pangasinan. Motorcycle and e-bike riders violating the ordinance will be fined as well as meted out imprisonment.  (Joana de Vera)

Election protest vs San Quintin mayor dismissed 

THE election protest filed against San Quintin Mayor-elect Farrah Lumahan was dismissed by the Regional Trial Court Branch 51 in Tayug due to a lack of evidence.

The RTC said the complainant, reelectionist Mayor Florence Tiu, failed to complete the testimonies of witnesses on the alleged vote-buying, and on the claim that the details of the actual vote did match the voter’s receipt, among others. (Jam Victorio)

Umingan administration to strictly enforce anti-epal rule

THE new municipal administration of Umingan strictly prohibits the use of the name and face of public officials in official items or projects in observance of anti-epal values, which aims to stop politicians from taking undue credit for services funded by public funds.

Based on this policy, only the words ‘Municipality of Umingan’ and the official seal of the town must be found in official documents such as the mayor’s permit. (Jam Victorio)

Poultry farms spawn swarms of flies in Umingan 

RESIDENTS of Barangay San Juan in Umingan called on the municipal government to do something about the now year-long problem of poultry farms that spawn swarms of flies, posing a health threat to the community.

They said these poultry farms should be closed for failure to follow sanitary standards. (Rona Racca)

Some vendors back in Basista public market

VEGETABLE and dry fish vendors have returned to the public market in Basista, which was razed to the ground several months ago.

Other vendors are still at the nearby temporary site set up by the local government. (Jam Victorio)
