Free coffin program for Alaminos indigent families
THE Alaminos City government launched Karamay sa Pagsubok, Kaalalay sa Pagbangon – Libreng Kabaong Programtat offers free coffins to qualified residents who cannot afford burial expenses.
The project was launched in partnership with 1st District Rep. Arthur Celeste, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Alaminos City, and selected funeral service providers.
To avail of the assistance, claimants must undergo screening and secure a Guarantee Letter from the City Mayor’s Office. Only residents without sufficient income for burial costs will be eligible.
They will be required to present a certificate of indigency and valid IDs for both the deceased and the claimant, a funeral contract, and a death certificate.
Once qualified, the beneficiary will present the Guarantee Letter to any of the city’s partner funeral parlors, which will then coordinate with BJMP for the provision of the coffin that is fully covered by the program, leaving the family to pay only for the funeral services.
The partner funeral parlors are Michael Funeral Services, Funeraria Castro, Funeraria Norma C. Abarra, Funeraria J. De Guzman, and Synergi Group Inc. (Goshen Memorial Chapel). For more information, residents are advised to visit the City Mayor’s Office or the City Administrator’s Office. (Eva Visperas)
