THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dagupan officially concurred with the reappointment of Atty. Aurora Valle as city legal officer and Luz de Guzman as chief of staff during its regular session on July 10.

In separate resolutions, the city council affirmed the return of Valle and De Guzman to their respective posts under the administration of Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Valle, who held the same position during Mayor Fernandez’s previous term beginning in 2023, expressed her gratitude to the council for their continued trust and pledged her commitment to support the legislative body.

“If ever you need me… if you are hard up with your work or whatever you would like to ask me about your committee, your opinion — I am very willing to assist you,” she told the council members in a brief message before the vote on her confirmation.

Meanwhile, De Guzman, who returned to public service as an executive assistant and now chief of staff, also shared her reasons for accepting the mayor’s offer to rejoin the city government.

“When she (mayor) approached me and asked me to be part of her team, I didn’t hesitate. Even if the work is hard and the hours are long, we enjoy it because we know we are doing the right thing,” she said.

De Guzman recounted her rise through the ranks — from a job order employee earning P600 a month, to laborer, cashier, budget officer 1, 2 to supervising budget officer, to becoming the city’s chief budget officer and now the chief of staff — which she wants to serve as an inspiration to “the young generation,” especially those looking at a career in government.
