LTO to strictly enforce ‘No Plate, No Travel’ policy
THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Ilocos Region is set to strictly implement the “No Plate, No Travel” policy.
LTO Regional Director Glorioso Daniel Martinez said consultative meetings began on Wednesday, June 4, with local government officials, including mayors and barangay leaders, to coordinate efforts.
Martinez said the accelerated distribution of vehicle plates in the new format by the LTO is a preparatory step for the policy’s implementation.
The primary goal of the “No Plate, No Travel” policy is to facilitate the quick identification of vehicle owners, especially in criminal investigations.
The LTO has allocated four months to fully enforce the policy, with stricter penalties and fines set to take effect by September.
An information and education campaign will be conducted in July to raise awareness about the importance of displaying proper vehicle plates and the legal consequences of non-compliance. (Ahikam Pasion)
